Emerald Ash Borer
The Emerald Ash Borer is now a confirmed inhabitant of Dane County, Wisconsin. Fortunately we offer a treatment that is guaranteed effective for 2 years before another application is necessary.
Using the Aborjet trunk injection system at the base of the tree, the product (TREE-äge™) is injected into the tree’s transport tissue and carried throughout the rest of the tree. This eliminates exposure of chemicals to people, pets and other living organisms that may inhabit the area. Treatments begin as early as May.
This application is best done before infestation. Prevention of an Emerald Ash Borer infestation is key. However, if your tree is already infested, a tree can sustain 30% damage before removal, as the cost to remove a tree is drastically more than a single treatment . Our certified Arborist can determine if an infested tree is salvageable.
Here is some information from some emerald ash borer studies:
“In several intensive studies conducted by MSU and OSU researchers, a single injection of TREE-äge™ (the product we use) in late spring or early summer, once the tree began to leaf out, provided excellent control of EAB for at least two years, even when EAB densities were high. For example, in a highly-replicated study conducted on trees ranging in size from 5 to 21-inch DBH at three sites in Michigan, untreated trees had an average of 68 to 132 EAB larvae per square meter of bark surface, which represents high pest pressure. In contrast, trees treated with low rates of TREE-äge™ had, on average, only 0.2 larvae per square meter, a reduction of 99 percent. When additional trees were felled and debarked two years after the TREE-äge™ injection, there were still virtually no larvae in the treated trees, while adjacent, untreated trees at the same sites had hundreds of larvae. Moreover, in side-by-side comparisons, TREE-äge™ was more effective than other systemic neonicotinoid products.” This excerpt taken from www.emeraldashborer.info.
